SFMA Advanced Level

Clinical Integration

Course Description

SFMA Advanced Clinical Integration

This course is designed for clinicians who have taken the SFMA Level I seminar and have been using the model in clinical practice. The course starts with an overview of the entire Functional Movement System as outlined in our new book Movement. This will help the clinician’s understanding and application of the model to include the appropriate use of the Functional Movement Screen and Y-Balance Test for screening and return to activity/sport purposes and the SFMA for patients with current musculoskeletal pain. Details of inner core function and its relationship with movement are discussed. We review the Top Tier movements and provide more details related to scoring and how the movements should be prioritized clinically. An update on the breakout flowcharts is provided to allow for an accurate and efficient assessment of your patients movement.

Advanced treatment techniques are introduced with an emphasis on Functional Movement Taping (FMT). FMT and associated exercise progression are covered in a lecture/lab format. Specific therapeutic exercise are discussed and practiced with an introduction to Kettlebell training for rehabilitation.

The conceptual approach to treatment presented allows for seamless integration of contemporary manual therapy techniques and associated therapeutic exercise choices.

A substantial amount of time is devoted to individual assessment and treatment progressions, in case study formats, which serve to advance the clinician’s understanding of the entire Functional Movement Model.
